My mother in law gave me the following radio that I know nothing about. It's a Tempo VHF/One mobile radio. Can you tell me anything about it? I have no idea what frequencies it uses or anything else about it. Thanks for the advice, John |

You have what is known as a KEEPER! 
Yaesu FT-200, FT-250 or Tempo One
In the US the radio was sold under the name of: Tempo One (with a black and silver case)
by Henry Radio of Los Angeles.

The Yaesu FT-200 was introduced in October of 1968 and sold into the mid 1970s and there are still quite a few of them around and still in use today.
I personally liked the looks, face and design of the Tempo One far better than the Yaesu radios.

So my next question is this. What type of antenna do I need to get this radio up and running? And will it run on standard 12 volt system? Thanks again, John. |

Ok it is a Tempo VHF/One ?
If so you need a 2 meter ( 144mhz ) antenna. See what frequency it covers when you put 12 volts on it ..... OR that may be printed on the frount or back pannel.
NOW IF THIS IS RIGHT ....
You will need a TECH CLASS license to use it.
And ENJOY YOUR TOY ....... I had one back many years ago ..... Mine was crystal controled BUT some later ones ( CALLED A ONE + ) had a PLL like a cb rig and a digital display.
STILL not a bad radio however NO tone board for repeaters.

1. You'll need a Ham Radio License if you don't have one already. (it's a Ham Radio)
2. The Radio covers 80-10 meters.
A Starter and a good antenna to use with it is G5RV, cover the 80 - 10 meter bands.
3. A good Antenna Tuner.
4. Mains or 12 VDC option (separate supplies)

REMEMBER THERE IS A TEMPO ONE ( 80-10 meters ) which STARFACE is talking about
AND A TEMPO ONE VHF ( 144-148 ) if yours is 2 meters you only need a TECH license if it's a TEMPO ONE the HF one you only have rights with a tech license on 10 meters unless you get a general class.

Not much on them out on the net.
IF it's a 40 ch radio you have a bargan moble radio that you can use since TRAM at that time was a good set.
If its a 23 ........ well ..... They are not legal anymore .....
