the a99 or any antanna from solarcon are good like the imax2000 costs more but a good antanna alot of pelpole run a99 and imaz2000 there very simple to set up and dont forget a good swr metter good luck

Warchild, an A99 should do you just fine. I contend that these antennas often times are the cause of some TVI, but that does not have any thing to do with their working or not. It may make some difference if you have neighbors close by.

The radio is a good one and I believe your meter in the radio should be accurate enough. With the A99 there is ususlly no problem with tuning or SWR. Get the antenna up 25' or more and have some fun.

Your right about the coax, RG8U is the right/best type for CB and Ham. Lots of confusion about coax. Lots of people think 213 is better, I guess because of the higher number, but 213 is just one type of RG coax. Also there is good and bad brands in both. I think Belden is one of the better brands, their 213 is rated at a little less than 2000 watts at 27 mHz. The center conductor is # 13 stranded. Actual shielding rating is 96%.
The Belden RG8U that I use is not the best.
It is rated at 2800 watts at 27 MHZ, and the center conductor is #10 stranded. Actual shielding is 98%. When I bought it 6 or 7 years ago, it was the best in Flex. They have a double shilded RG8U now that is flexable and better rated. Below is Beldens cable page if anyone is interested.
