Do you have the S-9 in a vehicle or set up as a base? Will it transmit? SWR??? Do you see signals present on the rf meter? Try a different antenna? Try a different radio on the suspect antenna? Do you have an amp inline? Remove the amp? Try removing the mic to rule out faulty mic wiring? If the antenna took a direct lightning hit you would know it but an indirect hit could damage basically everything in the radio to just a couple of componets. Could be a blown receive RF amp transistor, especially if the radio was on during intense lightning. That would be my guess without further info. KEEP IT REAL! it is fixed it is a freinds radio. i guess she had the antenna unhooked during the storm and the concusion from the thunder( lightning hit around 50 feet away)disconnected the speaker, both wires were melted slightly but i do belive it shook them losse considering her rear window was blown out by that strike it could have been worse the golden screw driver on the golden build radio
