Also under this heading of "Is This True?"
Read an article elsewhere stating that Magnum were discontinuing production of the 257. Is this True? And why as the 257 is a VERY popular radio?

Thanks for clearing that up Lonnie. Didn't mean to stir up a hornets nest but it was stated that the ones in stock were the last production run and better get in quick. Was just thinking it would be the next in a long line of something that works well so they discontinue it. Be it radios, cars, hydraulic pumps etc....lol.

The HTX-10 / MAG-257 radios have been in production about 15 years.

The HTX-10 10 meter ONLY radio was sold by Radio Shack and was not expandable to CB DON'T EVEN THINK YOU CAN ..... There are many of them out on 10 meters today .....

The MAG-257 ( export ) radio is almost the same set but WILL go on CB is the BEST under $200 radio out there. I can see why some companies would just love to see it go by-by.

Just a SOLID RADIO .........

Yes Brucester, i have the 257's BIG brother the 357 and it was discontinued. But nothing surprises me anymore. The amount of radios you can buy now compared to 10 years ago is chalk and cheese. I look around regularly and it's getting harder and harder to find a NEW SSB cb nowadays. I think Galaxy and Texas Ranger are the most available, don't see the NEW 148 advertised very often now. The only real option is a 10m or a second hand job off the classifieds.

Regards,
Bob.
