I was browsing the internet and saw a mod for this mic.(Google cobra hg m75 mod and it'll come right up.) So out of sheer boredom and curiosity I picked one up and thought I'd give it a try. The mic is usually found around $20 and the mod consists of changing 2 resistors and a cap. I loved my Astatic 575-M6 and since they discontinued it, I, in protest wont buy another Astatic (especially that red mic). I decided to only change one of the resistors. (the final amps emitter resistor stock=1800 ohms / after mod=220 ohms). The other resistor is right off the element, and the cap controls tone ( I'm going to make that variable later) After the mod this thing has monster gain, in fact I may change that resistor to a 470ohm- 680ohm, as my gain dial is only on 3 for great audio, its a bit touchy. So if anyone has one of these around, it may make for a fun quick project. Stock, its not much better than a stock dynamic, but after the mod its got good gain and a pleasant tone.
