I just installed am Wilson 3' FGT fiberglass antenna on my truck . It says the coax should be 18' . Is it really necessary to run 18' ? Or can I go to a shorter length ? If so what length can I go & keep my SWR low ??

Riverat,

Keep the coax lenght 18 feet. Use RG-8X.
