Hello to all, I have a troubling problem at least for me . I have a rci 2950 that has not given me any trouble for atleast 5 years until now... I have been told that sometimes when I am on am that I am cutting in and out and crackly. Sometimes when I look at the meter I have a dead key on the metor and can see the metor flucuate when modulating. Then there is nothing.(The dead key is there just not modulating.) I have checked the connection from the mic cord to the radio, tight. I have checked the connections at the end of cord all solder joints look good . All still intact. I have taken the back of the mic off and all looks good there too. I have used can air and have blown out all areas I can think of. I have opened the radio and have used the can air in the inside of the radio where the mic connection is on the iside of the radio. I have come to my wits end on trying to find out where the short if there is one is happening. Sorry so long winded but wonder where else to look at or what to do . So any help would be greatly be appreciated. Thank you again . Scott Ps. The radio is in fine to mint shape still for the year of the radio. Not abused the mic has never been abused or stretched when it is cold or etc. always have let the radio warm up before use in cold weather .

Have you tried a different mic? Sometimes they just go bad. The little switch inside the mic can go bad. I bet you would love a new Astatic or Road King mic for Christmas!
Let us know what you find out.

No I havent Kenny but there is a buddy of mine that has a ranger radio, he was wondering if that would work on my 2950 but not sure and dont want to take a chance. I dont know what kind of ranger he has but kinda leery. It is weird though cause if I am talking normal and try to wiggle the cord by the mic itself or the radio it wont cut out on me so maybe it is in the switch... But thank you and will try to get something , just was nervouse that it could be a stress crack in the board in the radio. I have read that about boards having the cracks so now that is all can imagine, more money lol. But thank you...
