Yes it can be done .... but it's not legal. Starting on 10 meters the inputs are on 29.520, 540, 560 and 580 the outputs are on 29.620, 640, 660 and 680 mhz. They can be found on all vhf/uhf bands. SO it could be done on CB using say ch 1 in and ch 8 out ........... You CAN use AM SSB DIGITAL or FM as long as you provide for each modes needs ..... AM repeaters were common in the 60's untill FM became cheap enough.... and with it's limiting just worked so much better .... Repeaters are not that hard to make I ran WR4ANA here in the 70's on 52.55 input and 53.55 output built from a old motorola radio into 2 DI-6 groundplanes at 50 foot each and had a 4 cavity duplexer. It covered from Port Richie to Bradenton Fl and was on untill a lighting hit distroyed it in 1980. Bruce On 6 since 66

Yeah Steve would'nt it be awesome? Just think of all the pileups to deal with. You know the the cb mentallity out there. Some guy with 20kw next door to the repeater would be ruining it for the rest of us. Kenny CEF491 Reading the mail around Indianapolis Indiana!

You could TONE the input but that would not stop someone from jamming it. Repeaters are not that hard to build it's a matter of hooking a receiver to a transmitter and controlling it with some form of switch. This would apply to any band even CB. My 6 meter one was built from a 47 MHz radio built in 1953 .... yep a tube hunker. The controller was a HAMTRONICS COR/TIMER board which you can still buy 30 years later ..... Mine on 52/53 Mhz with 2 cavies on each antenna one trapping out the transmit frequency and the other the receive frequency the ground planes only needed to be 30 foot apart for the -120DB isolation needed to hear a .5UV signal without the transmitter interfering with it. The real problem is there is no band plan ....no standard to use for offset and no rules as to input or output frequencies ... other than illegal. Too bad MURS does not allow them since MURS is also CB. On 6 since 66

First of all at 27MHz you would need one heck of a duplexer for 100khz spacing. and using AM @ 600khz is hard enough let alone 100khz. can you say splatter? you would need to pump some power into the duplexer to get 4 watts out of the duplexer (can you say even more splatter?). at 27mhz and 100khz spacing the insertion loss would be tremendous. and of course finding a duplexer for 27mhz would be a job in it's self. you would want a BP-BR duplexer. |

KC8qpd is right. I am having fun working on a duplexer for a 10m repeater and it is not easy.. Simon Tech237 N7AUS

most 10 meter sites are split my cavities on 6 meters were over 3 foot tall 2/3 a 1/4 wave I have a smaller cavity about 18 inches each great for killing intermod but are no good for repeater use..... too low a Q. On 6 since 66
