I have three different meters a Dosey,Para Dyn. and a MFJ all three give me a totaly different reading. My question is can I hook up my radio to the transmitter conn. on the meter and put a dummy load on the antenna conn. on the meter to check the meter being the dummy load is supposed to be a perfect matched ? Thanks John

Johnny why don't you give us the measurements you are comparing. 1.2:1 is totally different than 1.3:1, but it makes no difference with the operations of your rig.

Yes, using a good dummy load can be a useful tool.

How do the meters compare with the dummy load attached?

Yes you can use a dummy load to see if the meter is working. also if you can rig up a 100 ohm and 75 ohm losd you can check for 2:1 and 1.5:1 readings too.

What you might be looking at into a antenna is if your using a modified radio or a amp a meter that is very wide band ( covers up to 2 meters ) will also read harmonics too and THEY will increase meter readings.
