do these gpk for the wilson 1000 mag mount antennas really work or are they a waste of money?

I would assume they are a waste of money as the body of the vehicle already acts as a ground plane so to speak. I bought one of these for a whip antenna and my swr's skyrocketed, I took it off and havn't seen it since, lol

Those GP kits won't work.As someone else posted the car body acts as the GP or counterpoise.In order for a GP kit to work it would need to be added to the grounded side of the antenna not the radiating part such as the whip.By adding the GP kit to the whip you are making the antenna seem like its longer therefore changing the resonance point I.E. whats called a capacity hat.These are just a gimmic such as the rejection kit wires for a moonraker antenna.
