I bought a used cobra 2000 gtl it works great but the guy i bought it from somehow put a talkback in it and i cant turn my mic up without it squeling.how do i disconnect the talk back?theres no switch for it and its always on it seems to only be on for AM not sideband.is there a wire i can clip to shut the talk back off somehow?thaks |

Freebird I wish I could help but I cannot for the life of me remember how that is hooked up. I would say open the radio an look for any wires that don't belong. I am thinking they might have came off the mic connector and or the AM/SSB switch. Again I wish I could help more. Tech565 Net and Asst. Net controller CVC#38 Ham#243

Look at the pa jack. sometimes they ran a resister between 2 posts. this will give u talkback. Also if there is an audio transformer look at the metal strap on that and see if they ran a wire to ground. that will also give u talkback. I have removed both on radios to remove talkback so know what i'm talking about. I'm also a licensed tech. tony/n5jva/cef 259 |
