What is the best swr ratio for a cb? I know anything under 1.5:1 is ok and the lower the better, but can you have it too low? |

1:1 is the best you can do 1.5:1 is only a 4% loss. EVEN on my antennas which cover many bands if my radio likes it i'm happy .... On 6 since 66

I am so glad to see that someone finally called it SWR and not SWR's lol and 1.5 is just fine and nothing to worry about. bob Robert L. Spicer The days of radio are just beginning!

Exploded my finals!!! ?????? WOW except in high power radar power supply ive never seen them explode ... Sounds like your radio has no fail-safe or shutdown for the finals .... $70 is high ..... for a CB set ... But with motorola out of the market things are a bit crazy .... My FT-100D finals are $300 for AFTERMARKET ones since the MOT ones are no longer made ... Same goes for the IC-706 $449 if you pop the VHF/UHF ones ..... Crank your radio down cool it with a fan and it will live a long and ( keep you ) happy life .... On 6 since 66

Not just the finals have got expensive, CPUs used in radios even mics. A replacement mic for my wife's IC-208 is $95, the whole radio only cost me a little over twice that. Simon Tech237 N7AUS
