My question is Is there a "best place" to put it or can it go under the eave flat on the roof etc... and does it need to be grounded or anything? I've never used a dipole for any length of time so I want to do it right as I may be here for 3 or 4 months but would still like to have a base for local talking and maybe some DXing if possible. By the way if any read my other post I killed both my Magnums so I'll be using the old DX55V until I can afford my new Galaxies so the CEF SSB nets are out for now. Now an outside antenna will nearly always beat an equal indoor antenna, so if possible mount it outside. If you are running legal (or close to) run a wire around 22awg and use transparent insulator and RG8X coax. Get it as high as possible and away from any other metal (gutters etc). Inside, again go for a thin wire and pin or tape it to the ceiling or even a large window (yeah right). Actually if you are going for inside try using a fullwave loop instead. The third possibility is to mount it low UNDER the house. I have done this a couple of times in the past and had t work surprisingly well.
