I have a Midland 75-822 that has been tweaked and peaked with a 10 inch adjustable rubber duck with a bnc connector on it, it works about what you would expect for a new style handheld. I have an old radio shack 3 channel handheld with a fixed extendable antenna ( about 5 ft.) when pulled out. It will out-distance my rubber-duck by miles. My question is. What kind of male bnc connector do I need to mount on the extendable so it can be used on my new radio. Any hints will be helpful and where would I get a antenna bnc connector. Lots out there for coax, but could not find anything for antenna. |

Swisher, Rat Shack use to carry one. It was a 5 ft telescopic. Also Maxon had one for it's Hand Helds. With a little work you can still find one. Maybe try an auction site. |

if it has a BNC on it it should work .... are you looking for a adaptor ? MANY of the old pull up antennas had a thread at the bottom and its unlikely you will find a BNC adaptor to fit it ...... NOW .....
See if COPPER still had the wips for the Spitfire 454 radios it had a BNC and was cut for CB.

All the handheld cb rubber-ducks and small extendables have a male bnc connector on them today, but I can't find a bnc for mounting an antenna to, guess I'll find an old bnc antenna and take it apart to see what kind of bnc they use and how it's put together. Is there anyway you can tell the difference between a scanner rubber-duck and a cb rubber-duck antenna and what would the best way to check swr on a handheld. |

If you are looking for an adapter to use telescoping antenna on the Midland you are not going to find one. I have a Midland 75-822 and I use a COBRA HA-TA Telescoping antenna and it extends to 26 inches and it works a heck of a lot better than the rubber duck. They cost around $16.00.
