Yes your brain cooks and you get cararacts .... http://www.wirelessconnections.net/calcs/rfsafety.asp I worked in MMW radars back 30 years ago 100 MILLION watts ERP at 96 GHZ ....... and you could cook a duck on a pond with them. Being stupid with high power can get you hurt ... The people who run 20,000 watts need to think safety or be ready to lose a few brain cells .... On 6 since 66

When you take your Ham or Amateur Test a lot of the questions come up on RF Exposure And needs to be for safety reasons. Rf is much like microwave cooks you from inside out. Iv seen what they call shootouts (I think that's what it called) on the internet, Im sorry that's just plain stupid or nuts. 20 to 50 thousand watts. You are in harms way No Doubt. What or should i say watt you doint see or feel can KILL you. Life is short it's best to play Safety and injoy the radio hobbie as you can. Hal~Moderator136~KCØSVC CEF#0136/CEF HAM#23 ~ CVC#0004

Plus the VEC also has you sign a RF paper stateing you have read and understand about RF before you get your Tech License. I still have mind. So if your thinking of becoming a Ham you'll learn a lot of the basic of RF Safty. George

The first thing that happens is tissue warming. Next, and over the long term, cells are damaged. Some of those cells repair once the RF exposure has ceased, some never repair. It is worth noting that many people are resonant around 27 MHz. That is why 27 MHz. is used for the new RF focused cancer treatments, and 13.5 MHz (double that and it equals 27 MHz.) is used for diathermy. Hams gave up the 27 MHz. band many years ago. The theory was for creating the low power (5 watts or less) CB band since the lower power levels were deemed safe at 27 MHz. Guys running high power on 27 MHz. may have problems down the road. |

and then there was the photographer who walked into a Radar transmitter shack to photograph the Air Forces new radar system. He had a pocket full of magnesium style flash bulbs, and shortly there after trousers around his ankles. Simon Tech237 N7AUS . I thought he said, "there was no rust for the wicked, and I own an MGB"
