Got an interesting one for ya. My buddies 2510 shows a 30 watt "dead key" on ssb with the cover on, using an antenna or dummy load. With the cover off it's fine. the cover is not hitting any wires or parts on the board. It is not shorting out any screws. If you are in transmit while putting the cover on, you can watch it gradually go from good to bad. |

check the board mounting screws around the final area.I have read about the same problem in the same chassis radios.Possibly on rogerbirds site.If memory serves me corectly it was caused by oxidation between a screw and the tinned trace on the board.Also check the final mounting screws.

Ok thanks we are giving it a try now.( I am chatting with him online trying to help via pics)
BTW when it shows the 30 watt dk on ssb, there is no tone like you would get if someone on am was keying. his power supply shows an increase in current draw though. |

Isolate MRF from chassis. Put mica or teflon insulator between final and chassis.
