Any one know what finals are in a Cobra 2000 gtl and where to buy them?

Also the freq counter sometimes jumps to like 35.0??? but it is still rec and trans on the correct freq that I am on, it just scares me cause I dont want to be also trans on 35 mhz.

I bought this rig and every thing works great except the counter going to 35 some times like said.

The rec is alsome and I get great reports on on its sound.

Thanks

Roger if your TXing and RXing nothing wrong with the finals, now the counter does have an issue.
Does the counter stay at 35 mhz or is it jumping there and then returning back to normal freq?
Does it do it when you first turn the radio on and then return after a few moments?

it goes to that 35 mhz then back to where it is supposed to. recieve is when it does it most but then when I key it shows the correct freq.

it does it any time if it is fist turned on or when warm.

do you have a dummy load to check it into, roger? see if it does it with a 100% guaranteed GOOD jumper into a dummyload 1st. with dummyload-if NO, i'd check SWR, coax, connectors, etc. if YES, then it is the radio. seem to remember zener diode in freq counter module going bad. replace d528 with a 1 watt nte136a.

Cool, thanx Pat. I want to know what finals it takes too even if the ones in radio are not bad, reason is I want to get hold of spares just in case. the friend I got the radio from says the finals were replaced with new ones but I dont know if they are original or some thing different.

Roger,
the final is 2sc1969,driver is 2sc1306 and pre-driver is a 2sc1973.Pat is correct with the part#'s in his post for an erratic counter.Incidently d528 is a .5 watt-5.7 volt zener.
cobra tsb #1232 has another remedy for instability in ic-512 which is the counters 35mhz preamp.will e-mail you a copy of the bulliten at the addy in your profile.
