I have a General Grant. This is one awesome radio. I have added several mods, channel guard, roger poot, changed diodes for better rx, changed power regulator, added a me-3 Sadelta mike and added super swing. I am wanting to add talkback. i tried the UTB-1 (universal talk back) it worked for a while but later it started to squeal and chatter. i think the rf from the 2- 2290 finals killed the UTB. So I had to take it out . I really want a good talkback like comes in the Galaxy's. I am hoping someone knows of a mod to give talkback to my General Grant. Can you help?

Well,I know a simple way of putting talkback in a radio is to wire a resistor from your external speaker jack to a ground (chassis). You can put a bigger or smaller resistor on there depending on how loud you want your talkback.I THINK I had a 1K
resistor on mine and it was to suit me.BUT,wiring talkback up on a radio can have damaging effects on your audio chip.I found that out the hard way.
I kept fiddling and fiddling with my talkback until I had absalutly no transmit at all on my radio.I later found out that I most likely fried my sound chip. The radio was a great radio while it lasted though.Good ol Uniden.hehe Have a good one.
