Does anyone have factual, hands on experience relative to the power handling capability of the IMAX2000 antenna? I am not interested in guess work or theoretical expressions. I have read the ad data provided by the manufacturer. I am interested in real world application.

Tech833 should be able to answer your question for you.

i know of a mobile that ran 1 x 3-500z thru an imax2000 while parked. PEP was 1500 watts, dead key around 500. no problems.

1500 watts maximum PEP (SSB) or 1000 CW. More than that would be unsafe.

I can tell you from my real life experience that 2500 watt dead key out of my Henry was fine till I started talking. I was wondering how much the antenna would take and I guess I found out.
Looks like Tech833 is right on the money.

Mike,

With a 600-700 watt carrier, then the PEP was probably much higher than 1500. That far exceeds the Imax power handling capability.

Maximum carrier power, assuming a 100% positive to negative peak ratio (no 'swing' kit) would be under 500 watts. If you are using a radio that has a lot of positive peak envelope power (you guys refer to this as 'swing'), then maximum safe carrier power would be far less.
