I picked up a 98vhp last week, and just installed it in a mobile unit. I have a K40 trucker antenna, 9' of RG8 coax, with antenna mounted to a steel rack on top of the van. Now with the dx959 i had before I had a swr of 1.2. It is about the same with the 98vhp, but when I crank up the power the swr's go crazy. Is this normal?? Am I using the wrong kind of antenna for this much power? I guess the best question would be how do I tune this radio? Power up... or power down...?

Going to try a 3' k40 whip that I have to see if it is the antenna... still don't want to push this radio untill I have things locked in.. I am realy looking foward to uncorking this thing to see what it will do.
