Techs & Gentlemen,
16 yrs. ago I put an antenna on the garage roof on top of a approx. 18' push-up pole. Back then I heard that if I put ceramic insulators in the guywires every 10' that it would act as a groundplane. I did this to the top 4 & bottom 4 guywires every 10'. Just recently I was told that this was not a good idea.. Whats your take on this??
Not long ago I took down the Shakespeere Pogo Stik to clean it and paint it as per info found on this forum. I found a 1" crack in the top section that I pushed together and put some JBweld type stuff on it.. With new RG213 from Copper attached. Up in the air it went. SWR still good.
Until I get a Imax w/gpk1 kit is the ceramic insulators hindering my tx or rec??
I appreciate all your info & opinions.

Me, I have always broken my guy wires, not to stop them from being a resonant length, but so I can use them as inverted v antennas.

Even when not using them as a dipole, I cannot see any reason why the insulators would cause any issues, whereas I DO KNOW that a guy resonant on the band(s) used, can cause problems and in fact, have been proven to be a cause for TVI.

My opinion is to leave the insulators there..
