I was hoping you can help me here. Im putting up my Maco M103c Beam on the Horizontal Plane on a 10 foot pole on a heavy duty 3 foot tripod. Im using a Yaesu G450A Rotor. Lmr400 coax for both antennas. Will be using 4 guy lines and turn buckles. Going semi pro here. I want to mount the IMax 2000 on the top of this beam. How far up the Pole should the IMax2000 be as to cause no conflict? Thanks Guys.....Best Regards from the Coast Of San Francisco................ |

Mount the vertical directly to the boom of the beam. Use the beam as an artifical ground plan.

Yes, mount the Imax as close to the boom of the beam as possible. The same vertical pipe used to mount the beam would work well to mount the Imax to as well.
Suggestion- You should use a semi-flexible cable to go past the rotor for both antennas. LMR-400 will work fine for a while. But, the more you turn the rotor, the more the cable will be moved around and will eventually fail.
Times Microwave makes flexible versions of their LMR-400 cables. Or, you could run LMR-400 from the shack up to the bottom of the rotor and then use inexpensive RG-8 flexible cable to go from there, up past the rotor, to the antennas. Just install a barrel connector at that point. Copper Electronics sells everything you need, including an LMR-400 clone cable that is every bit as good as the TR product.

Thanks Guys. Sorry I strayed away. I didn't think about that it would fail. Hmmmmmmm I know its pretty stiff. I have some Rg8u and a barrel connector I will probably do this. Hey should I also do it to the IMax2000 since it will be turning as well? Thanks a bunch. |

Hi Dale,
Sorry for the slow response. Its 1.1.5 on the beam from 1 to 40. Tried to dial it but thats as low as it will go. Imax is flat match with a coax balun on it. No Balun on beam. |
