307:The General Grant radio I recently acquired is about to drive me batty.I hooked it up to my base station and it worked like a charm.3 watt dead key swinging 85 watts on low power.Hooked it up in my mobile , dead keys 85 watts and swings 130 watts on low power.Hooked it back up on the base ,3 watt dead key swinging 85 watts on low power.Hooked the old Galaxy 99 back up in the mobile ,works like a charm.Does Ranger have any kind of repair service for used radios?

I do not think it is a repair issue , It sounds like an antenna impedance problem with that radio only. I have seen radios on the bench read one power level and another in the car.

check the radio on a dummy load and see what it does there.....the try it in the car and house and see which one is closer to the dummy load reading...then at least you can eliminate a lil confusion about the wattage out put of the radio. by the way that a lot more power possibly reflecting off of the cab or if the antennas on the bumper off of the tail gate then the galaxy with the general grant. move the antenna...maybe hey good luck...honky tonk man 593 outta ny!!

I e-mailed Ranger yesterday and asked them about the General Grant .They informed me that they had nothing to do with these radios although they do sell the company that makes the radio the circuit board that is used.Seems to me that the cicuit board is 90% of the radio.
