I recently bought two new unconverted dx 400 amps. I converted them myself and made only one change in the cb tricks conversion step dealing with unsoldering the two 33/15 pf caps and soldering back the 15 pf. One of these amps I lost the existing ceramic cap i needed and replaced it with a tatanium dipped 15pf. Anyways I hooked both of them to a uniden 510 i had peaked to 2 watts swinging 9 into both amps. One of the amps swinged backwords on my rat shack meter on both medium and high power on amp. The other keyed up and modulated pep just fine, hmm. Any clues on this?

I took it in to the long distance tech(the one I trust) to take a look inside he said something about a high solder joint in the conversion possibly, thanks.

But hold up checked out the other dx400 i got when a older man was shutting down shop a few years back 300 each so these are both new amps but he said(the tech) that the problem had to do with a bad connection that was causing the one he was working on today and he fixed the swr issue. The other one I took out today had horrible swr's like the one i had fixed, any ideas?

define horrible SWR's . Is this between radio and amp, amp and antenna. What antenna are you using. The more detail about your setup the better.
