Got a mfj-259b,and man how a dosy bites for swr.Checked my beam and im reading 2.1swr,R56,X34.this thing isnt easy to lower,i will need to climb the tower to make any ajustments.Is it bad enough to worry about or what?Thanks! |

The 34 ohms of reactance is worrysome. Get it as close to zero as possible for maximum bandwidth and overall antenna efficiency.
You can affect reactance on a gamma match by changing the value of the capacitor in the gamma. You do that by sliding the inner rod into or out of the gamma. You change the resistance by changing the position of the dogbone (shunt).

What beam do you have, at what frequency were you getting those readings and was that low point for swr.
One thing about the MFJ, you can turn the knob and see where the antenna is resonant and know which way to go with your adjustments. |

Its a M103.I was on 27.285,thats where i do most of my talking!it was way off,no matter the direction,just have to move stuff and watch that meter! |

Well, after some ajusting the best reading i can get on 27.285 where i talk is...1.4SWR,R=34 X=8.Will this be ok? |
