Well I added a new radio (Magnum 257) to my motorhome and now when I key up I hear myself over the stereo speaker along with some nasty feedback. This also happened when I added a power mic. to my Uniden PC122. But with the Magnum I also pick up allot of static and the weirdest thing is the TX meter goes backwards instead of forwards when I transmit. The antenna is a 2 foot Wilson Silver load with radials attached and it’s mounted with a gutter mount above the driver’s window and the co-ax is run through the slide out behind the driver’s seat and up to the antenna.
I have seen other motorhomes with antennas mounted to the side of the rigs at about the same place with the mounts drilled into the side, I would rather not drill a hole in the side or the top of the motorhome if I don't have too. I was thinking maybe mounting it to the top of the ladder in the back and running the co-ax under the chassis and then up through the front to the radio but that’s going to be over 40 foot of co-ax. Any suggestions, Or ideas to make what setup I have better (with no feedback, extra static or meter reading backwards) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
