Both my Kris Power Pump and Power Pro RX use 6LQ6 tubes. Both use as their largest caps 450 volt caps. The peak voltage for the plate though is 990V. So why use caps of drasticly lower voltage capacity? Is it just because all they are doing is filtering??? |

The power supply I built is 3250 vdc. I used 10 450 volt caps. 10 X 450 = 4500 volts. Rich |

The voltage rating of caps is based on what voltage they see in the area of the curcuit they are in. Do teh 450v caps actually have more than 450V across them?? Are they caps in parallel or in separate circuits?? In other word more information would be helpful. Tech237 N7AUS God only made some many perfect head, on the rest he put hair.
