Does a NMO type antenna work good on a mirror mount? Trying to go flexible, as to avoid antenna breakage when pulling under asphalt plants in the dump truck...Any suggestions welcome!!

Yes, a base loaded NMO antenna will work well on a mirror mount. Be sure to choose one that has a DC ground, not the floating type.

You'll find that the professional NMO type antenna perform amazingly well. I found that a rather boring looking NMO base loaded antenna outperformed the fiberglass "trucker" antennas on my vehicles (on 10m).

833, What would recommend for a NMO antenna for the 11 meter band? I would be interested in something that has a spring on it. It will also be mirror mounted.
Thanks Tom "852"

I cannot recommend anything, I am non-partial.

I can tell you what I use on my vehicles for 10m ops, a Maxrad MLB2700(S). The (S) means it has a spring.

If bandwidth is not an issue, you could choose the MLBDC2700(S). It has a DC ground, which means the coil is tapped and the entire antenna is at ground potential (not floating). The DC types have a more stable SWR and tend to be quieter on receive.
