Before I post my issue with my base, I'll go ahead and post here first and foremost its details as advised on the board.

This radio was given to me as a gift by my uncle out of his garage storage. I did not purchase new.

I have no idea if modifications were made, peeked/tweaked or turned up in any way. My uncle however, did have a few associations in the past with some sketchy looking individuals that he no longer befriends. It is 'possible' that they may have gotten into the radio--but I'm only speculating. Plus, Id feel kinda rude asking him since he thinks so highly of me loving my new hobby and giving me my first base. To his knowledge having used it years ago, it still worked.

It has sat in storage.

I will be using it as a base station, not mobile.

No amplifier, just simple plug in wall. Will likely use Dipole or Wilson 1k when working again (crosses fingers). Base antenna will be in the future.

Basically to make this as specific as possible, when I plug my radio into the wall, attach antenna, looks like its ready to go, it appears disabled on the screen. Remember those handheld video games we had as children? When the batteries were going dead, the screens would just freeze to a default look, as this radio is appearing right now, just stuck. It will not allow me to change channels, frequencies, no functions, absolutely nothing. Just makes a static sound and is completely dead. Two of the tiny buttons at the upper right have been accidentally pushed in and fell into the radio, I pushed the button visible with a earring hook to see if that could make a difference in its disability-- but did not do the trick. I would love to get this fixed by Christmas, and no techs in the area will fix my Eagle and I'm very sad because this would be my very first base station. I came here because I googled the radio and it said it was from Copper. Any suggestions or possible scenarios? I included pictures and I also have a youtube video of me opening up the box and shining a flash light on the parts I could post in a bit if it helps more.

Here are the photos: http://imgur.com/nVCMJ

As you can see, the screen shows how its disabled.
Also, all lights come on on the meters, a light reddish/orange color.
