We know that some antenna's like the 1-max say's dbi and the actual gain is .8 dbd but , what is the actual dbd gain of the maco v-5000 since it say's 5 db gain. For people like me it is hard to get to the truth of the actual gain of any antenna since the manufacture will show higher gains to sell their product. Is there any formula to figure this out on our own.

It's just a 5/8 wave ground plane. Gain will be the same for just about any other similar 5/8 ground plane antenna like the P500 or the I-10K.
