I have been hearing a lot of woodpecker interference on 11 meters. Some folks say it's low over the horizon radar, others say HARRP. Well this is not the case for either I don't believe. Those sources would be much wider in bandwidth than one frequency. I believe these are amateur stations jamming frequencies. When one rather strong station started interfering with a conversation I was having I confronted the station over the air letting him know I could go to 10 meters and interfere with them as well. The jamming stopped.
I know some truckers and the like are using 10 meters and that angers the amateurs. But to start jamming operators that are not in their band of operation isn't doing anybody any good.
So anybody know of a schematic for the woodpecker signal that is being transmitted?

That doesn't sound like a ham jamming CB. Sounds more like an industrial glue dryer. Most of them operate in the 27 MHz. range due to its effectiveness in drying glue.

Alternatively, back when the Russian Woodpecker was active, it was seldom copied in the 27 MHz. range.

The bain of the CB band in populated areas in the 70's, and 80's was the diathermy machines at hospitals. A constant "squish, squish, squish" sound for hours at a time.

I forgot to mention that I have had these signals follow me from one frequency to another. And when I ask them to stop and reminded them that I could do the same, the jamming stopped immediately. So no it's not a glue dryer. And to add some more information.
Turns out these are used as tune up aids for amateur stations. So their misuse is very easy and very common. Check it out and let me know what you think. The use of the 3898 pecker is described on their home page....

Interesting...

So who did you anger? And, why would they jam you, then stop because you comment on it? Usually a jammer will only jam you more when they get a response from you.

Hmmm.. Sounds like a possible prank.

No prank. Just spend some time listening to the area around 27.555 USB. You'll find more than a few different woodpecker jammers there. I have read where the Hams are angry because truckers are using 10 meter rigs and talking on their bands. Also have some knowledge of their attempts to catch them. So it's not a hard stretch to bet these guys are using these devices to jam those they think are part of the problem.
The website for the 3898 Pecker Tuner is

http://www.3898pecker.com/main/page_product_gallery_3898_pecker_deluxe.html

Check it out. I have talked to the builder of these units and he confirmed the signals are from his product. Two of us have triangulated one station in south central U.S., probably Texas and there are others.
Also another item of note, I have been on the air for 30+ years and know a bit more than the average person. So I can say with a great amount of certainty these are not benign random signals from inanimate sources.

Sounds like you know more about this than anyone else. Also sounds like you are positive of the source. So, what can we do to help you?

Well I was not really looking for help so much as to get out the information on the source of these signals. I confronted one jammer on the air and reminded him I could do the same to those on 10 meters. That stopped the jamming in that case. So if there is any help I could use it would be for other operators to do the same at this point. Just remind these operators that they could be bringing the same interference their way by jamming those that aren't bothering them to begin with. Thats all. Thanks for the suggestions and for the opportunity to post here.

So, your purpose was to tell everyone that you know for a fact that hams are jamming you, and you wish to get others involved in accusing hams every time they hear what they suspect is jamming? I'm not sure that is the best way to handle this.

At this point, it still sounds like speculation. Until you actually have confirmation (not just that it stopped when you got on the air and said something) that it is a human intentionally doing this to you, it might be best to keep an open mind just in case it is not.

Starting a war between the CB crowd and the hams in this manner could erase many years of friendly cooperation between the two hobbies. Tread lightly, please. None of us wants hams to jam us, and also none of us wants to be accused of something we are not guilty of.

Perhaps it would be best if you contacted your local ham radio club (there are thousands of them nationwide) and report the situation and ask for their input. Hams don't take the jamming of anything or anyone by other hams lightly. You will find that they are eager to assist you in determining if your jamming is indeed another ham or not. In fact, if it is a ham doing intentional jamming, they will do far worse to the fellow ham than you could ever do yourself.

Look up the "Official Observer" program sometime.

Being a Ham myself and I would say 90+% of us Hams don't have nor would take the time to do jamming, it would be a danger zone of losing our Ham (Amateur)License. WE studied and worked very hard to get our License. So with that said why in the world would a Ham jeopardize their license?
Also you said this was happening on 27.555 USB that is not the HAM Band Plan, at least not for the USA. That is the free Band as some call it and Hams nor CB is allowed there. The 10 meter for Hams start at 28.000-29.700
So I ask you, you are so worried about jammers or jamming when what your doing isn't no better then them being on 27.555
It's best that you stay in the CB Band 26.965-27.405 or get a Ham (Amateur) License and then stay with in the band plan your License for.
Bashing Hams isn't the right thing to do nor is retaliate by returning the jamming.
In most case doing this on 10 meter is going to cost you a big fine.
