OK, I am running a top heavy antenna on the car (HF, VHF, UHF),and I have to use a bracket that adjusts in three different places. The front/back adjustment is good, but the sideways adjustment is troublesome.

No matter how tight I get those screws the antenna ends up tilted. As I had it handy I tried Loctite between the plates of the mount - FAIL.

Anyone know of a mobile base, that will take an SO-239 mount, that has the triple adjustments that will actullay lock in place. Failing this a quick tack weld is looking good.

Weld your own. I never use commercial mounts on my stuff.

I would if I could, but like trying the tack weld I'll have to pay someone to do it.

Find someone near you that builds fire engines. I found a guy about 50 miles from my QTH that builds fire trucks and he can fabricate and weld ANYTHING. And, it always looks pretty when he's done. I slip the guy a 20 spot and we're good.

To people that do large projects like utility trucks, etc, fabricating and welding a small bracket is such small potatoes, they may not charge much at all. If you go somewhere that makes small stuff, they'll act like it's such a big ordeal, etc.

Get friendly with a metal fabrication shop of some kind and treat them nice. It comes in handy for all sorts of stuff in life! Sometimes, just for the reality check.
