Why does everybody (that I know of) use LSB? Is LSB a better choice than USB?I know that they use USB off the CB band.

Is there a legitimate reason or just something that happened and nobody knows why.

Tradition.

In amateur (ham) radio, LSB is traditionally used for the 40m band and lower while USB is traditionally used for 20m and higher. Nobody seems to know for sure why, but some believe it is because of surplus military gear compatibility. Almost ALL military gear used USB, and there was a LOT of it used on the amateur bands way back when.
