I live in a "retirement community" consisting of "modular homes". I cannot put up an antenna(or flag pole(to conceal one). I do not have the length nor width to put up a dipole.
As I see it, I'm left with an Antron99(painted green) strapped to the SIDE of the Spruce tree outside my window(tip just above the top of the tree). I was thinking of a Jpole but hiding it the tree might be a challenge.
I managed to pick up my dream radio(Galaxy Saturn) cheap and DON'T want to screw it up.
At present I only transmit on the regular C.B. freqs but am looking into getting THE ticket.
The soil here is sandy and shallow (above the water table). Would a deep ground be good or bad?
ANY help or advice appreciated

I found out today that a Jpole will not work for a C.B.

Federal Law says you can have a FLAG pole.

Restrictions on Display of the Flag by
Real Estate Associations
The Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 200556 prohibits a
condominium, cooperative, or real estate management association from adopting or
enforcing any policy or agreement that would restrict or prevent a member of the
association from displaying the flag in accordance with the Federal Flag Code on
residential property to which the member has a separate ownership interest.

Good for you for obtaining your dream radio!

That tree is your new best friend. A wire antenna hidden in that tree will be great. Do a web search for "end fedz ef-10" and you'll find the PAR Electronics end fed wire 1/2 wave antenna. Leave it a little long, and it will work great on the CB band.

Run coax cable down the tree and just below the surface over to your home. Keep it stealth! Then, if you keep your volume down, or wear haedphones, no neighbors will be able to hear your radio traffic on a quiet night.

As for your ground, you are again in an ideal situation! Ground your antenna installation well, and it will surprise you how well it will work.
Your radio 'Mythbuster' since 1998

Huh? What? Why do you think that? The only issue I would think is the size of it at 27 mhz.

According to the tec(Ham Op) @ my CB joint, Jpoles aren't much good for the C.B. (where I do my radioing).
It will be a while before I can get my ticket.

MMM, Ive used J-Poles on both 27 and 28MHz. No reason they wont work if properly made.

Thank you Sluggo & Tech237.
I'll put the Jpole idea BACK on the back burner. I'm not hard to please. ALL I want is a station that can reach the moon and NOT be seen. LOL. No seriously tho, I DON'T need megawattage. I am happy wit low watt DXing.(I HAVEN'T made any contacts yet but I'm still not set up just right. I'm a little old to climb that tree(as I discovered putting up the antenna)and the antenna is yet untuned (2.1:1)
My deteriorating health is one of the reasons I'm getting back into radio. Less mobility is leaving me wit too much time on my hands.
