when using a push up pole thats 40' where is the best place to hook up the ground going to the ground rod. i have a 8' ground rod next to the push up pole now and using a solid #8 bare wire for the ground thats connected to the bottom of the push up pole then to the ground rod. am i right for putting the ground there at the bottom ? i was going to put the ground near the top but i thought with it to close to the antenna the ground might become resonant with the antenna a skeew the radiation of the antenna up. am i thinking wrong on that? |

Nah, you're on the right track.
Grounding the pole to a ground rod will help keep Zeus from sending a gift into your shack (I said it will "help", not stop it).
Your next step should be to ground the shield of your coax there at the bottom of the pole also. Next step is to install a Polyphaser at the point where the coax enters the building and ground it well right there.
Then, Zeus will have little to say about your equipment's longevity.

Could you post a model number or something of the polyphaser that will work. I have been looking at them and can't find one that looks like it will work. Thank you |
