Is it possible or has anyone used a microphone other than the Yaesu mics offered? More specifically, has anyone been able to adapt an older mic (like a Shure 444, MC80, ect) to work with the 897d? By "adapt" I mean manage to take a mic cable and be able to crimp it onto the RJ45 connector? Are there adapters available out there to go from the old style mic connectors to RJ45, or something the Yaesu would play nice with?

You can get adaptors to fit a standad mic plug to the RJ-45 jacks on most Ham radios.
