What would be better to use for an antenna mast on the top of a tower for an imax 2000 with a gpk , a fiber glass antenna mast or the conventional metal antenna mast on the top of the tower? What difference if any would it make? |

Tech 833, what would be best for the antenna mast on top of a tower for the imax 2000 with a gpk? A metal or a fiber glass mast? Would it make the gpk work better because of no reflection on the gpk from the fiber glass mast? I am thinking the metal mast would not make the gpk work as well because of the reflection from the metal mast? WHAT ABOUT IT YOU GUY'S?? |

It doesn't matter. However, the metal mast does make grounding the antenna a lot easier.

Thank you 833. The reason I had ask this question is because I have a scanner antenna that had said that a metal mast could act like a beam antenna because of the reflection from the mast and make the omni directional antenna directional. They had even went further to say to use a fiber glass mast so it would help avoid this problem with the scanner antenna. So in my way of thinking I had thought it would be even possible for it to have the same effect on the gpk radial's of my imax 2000. So once again thank you for helping me out on my question no matter how silly it may be. I have always been taught that the only stupid question is the question that is never asked. I think you have even said this as well. You and other's have taught me very much over the year's. |
