I was thing about out buying the galaxy dx 98vhp and using it as a mobile and a base station unit. What size power supply would I need to run this radio. |

just to add to what sitm said . you,ll
need a extra power cord for mobile use
and quick disconnects. as this must be connected
to the battery with the hot [red] line fused to
right at battery.and your not gonna wanna be
reinstalling this cord all the time

I run one on a 30 amp switching supply that I paid $29.95 from China lol and I can run it wide open and it holds, surprised me. Been that way for a year with no problems. |

I would not run a radio under what the manufacturer recommends. Spiderleggs, I am not sure of your situation, if you are transmitting on am or ssb so I can not comment on your statement. I would never run a $400 dollar plus radio on a 29.95 power supply while still not providing it with enough amperage starving the radio of its needed amperage.
If you are coming to this forum to get advice on how to properly run your equipment that is great. So, I am going to share some information that I have gleaned over the years.
When purchasing a power supply to supply your radio or amplifier, chose one that produces 10% more than recommended by said radio or amplifiers manufacturer.
Never overdrive your amplifier.
Run AB bias amplifier on ssb
Spend money on your coax, read attenuation charts prior to purchasing.
Check a dx spotter prior to keying up and calling cq on any frequency. Just because you can't hear them, doesn't mean they aren't there.
The amateur radio world is a big place, but people will soon learn your call if you are doing ignorant things on the air.
Believe half of what your hear or read and a third of what you see.
Read about things you are interested in, remember just because it is on the internet, doesn't mean that it is true. When you are reading an article on any radio product or theory be sure that they person that is posting the article isn't a lid. |

I have one I use a Aston 70 amp on my 98 draws 45 amps work's great follow the Lord Jesus. |
