What happen's when the ceramic disk cap. goes bad on the coil if the I max 2000? The reason I am asking is my antenna is picking up a bunch of electrical noise now when it never did before. My antenna still read's the same with an OHM meter, my swr is still the same. I took a look at the antenna and nothing has changed on the outside. Nothing broke nor bent. Remember, my antenna is 500 foot up to the top of a mountain so it is not close to any power line's or home's. |

I suspect the capacitors are ok. The coil/capacitors form a tuned circuit and if rhe cap was bad the resonant frequency would. If that happened I suspect your swr would change.

Thank you 237 but I wonder what could have caused my receive to pick up so much electrical noise for the past few month's? All of my connection's are good and my ground's are still the same. Sometime's my noise is a 2 to 3 on my meter. I have been use to only having white noise that does not even move the meter. |

Noise is always fun to track and work out why it has appeared. Could be dirty connections, corrosion, ground connection conductivity has changed, some new device in the general area.
I have known situations where the source of the noise was a mile or more away from the receive site.

If i can add for discussion ATT UVERSE and the like type phone line systems are a hot topic with interference with radio signals of many bands / modes. Also some CFL light bulbs are known for sure to cause interference. Needle in a hay stack. |

I do have CFL bulb's but I have them turned off when I had tried to find the source. I have no knowledge of the phone line being a source of trouble. What do you know about the cure for this problem on the phone line's? |

my flat screen tv causes noise on my radio
i plug it in and its there but not really issue.
turn on tv then it goes up to about 2 s-units and very loud. alot of culprits these days could be on
your end ,maybe not or even both. what i did
was i stated unplugging eeverything 1 at a time.
then record any differences. when i saw a change
i wrote it down.heresmy findings
flat screen tv [non plasma]
small dish box
amplyied square antenna

Thank's Hotrod. My TV was not on But, I will unplug it later to see. My radio is in my garage about 80 foot from my home. The only thing on in my garage was my radio. At the time nothing was on in my home. I will knock the breaker in my home though to cover everything. Thank's for the reply and help. I guess you still use Hotrod as a handle right? |

I had a transformer a mile away frying until it rained then it would stop. The electric company tightened the grounds on all the poles in a mile radius and found an old street light that must have been put up when Tesla was alive and changed it, that fixed it for about a year then all the transformers grounds had to be done again.
Check your coax too.

Good day Press man. Here where I live we can not even get the power company to hardly cut the tree's off the power line's without calling the Attorney General . When it rain's here it does help a lot as well. That could be most of my problem also. Thank you for your help. I hate dealing with our power company but I guess I will have to. |

as my handle on radio when on am mode [which isnt
very often] also on other fourms aswell.if its a transformer all i can say is GOOD LUCK.if it is though get yourself either a sirio or maco rotable
dipole and put it on flatside .supposedly running
flatside helps get rid of that.maybe tech 237 will

Hello Dale, yes my noise is from the power company I used a walkie talkie and the noise is from my home about a half mile in both direction's. With the breaker's knock in my home it did not take long to make sure where the noise was from. It will be hard to deal with the power company. Here where I live we are at their mercy. They think they are god's. Notice I used the lower case g so you know I am not talking about the real God. (Upper case G for the real God) |

The FCC has been known to make power companies stop their noise when it's a Ham.
