I have a black cat 2000 watt/sir meter it was working fine and then it stopped reading anything at all. I have never put 2000 watts in it. Just wondered if any body has any thoughts on this problem

Depending on the age, it may need to be rebuilt.
Check inside to see if anything has blown/burnt.
Be a good learning experience.

Thanks for your input I have looked inside and don't see anything . I've tried using an ohm meter to trace the problem with no luck .ill keep playing with it.

Here is a page to reference for how to test.

Have fun and keep us posted on how you do! Sonoma's around a lot and is a good source for info.

I normally use my scope to find the location I am losing the rf out put.hook the meter and radio up to a dummy load then key the radio and search the location you lose the rf signal inside the meter. this will get you to the location you do not have RF passing a part. normally is is a diode that has gone bad. it helps a lot if you have a schematic of the meter. if you do just look at what section is not working and look at each part on the schematic to make sure it is good.

Pressman I like the link you left for checking parts. it helps if some one does not have the right tools to test with.
have a good day
