833, I have been thinking about taking 12-2 house wire and stripping out the outer jacket so I can separate the black and white wire's. Now I plan on leaving the white and black insulation on these wire's so they won't be bare. Then I am planning on buying some insulator's to separate these two wire's to use for my transmission line from my radio to my antenna. I have an antenna tuner. The reason I am thinking of doing this is low line loss. the other reason for leaving the insulation on ( black and white ) is so that I won't have the problem that open bare line has with leaves and limb's and so on affecting the SWR. So my friend what advice do you have and do you think this will work well. My antenna is 750 foot away and I cant afford Heliax.

That won't do it. Open wire feedlines are dependent on spacing to wire diameter ratios for correct impedance and low loss. If you click on this video, you can see some balanced wire transmission lines at KPH- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we9vlkKl1LI

Those are 600 ohm feedlines for the commercial HF transmitters. There are spacers (difficult to see in video) at regular intervals and at the support points. When it's super windy like when the video was shot, the feedlines sway just enough that SWR goes all over the place and the signal on air wavers like crazy. But, it's not enough to render the signals unusable.

I had planned to purchase a lot of spacer's from the internet for proper spacing but I did not know the wind would do so much even with ton's of spacer's used. Thank you ole friend. GOD Bless YOU and YOUR FAMILY.

Sorry it had been years getting back to this subject but I am still planning on doing this project. I had seen the video. My plan is to place spacers every foot to keep the wind from blowing the wire as it did in the video . I hope by placing the spacers a foot apart will make the swr more stable. I also plan on having support for the open line with support every 10 foot to help take stress off the line and to keep the wind from blowing as much as possible. The support I spoke of every 10 foot will be insulated vertical poles in the ground. Let me know what you think of this.
