307 or 181,the radio I am talking on right now is putting out between 25 and 30 watts.Is it possible
that I'm overdriving my Silver Eagle 200?Thanks for your replys. |

see if i can help.i have a vr-9000 and a palomar 250, i put 1 watt dead key into the amp and a 45watt swing into the amp.it stays cool have not had any problems,i think what your doing is ok. |

The most important thing in driving an amp is the carrier level into it. Your radio may have the ability to push 25 or 45 watts but it's not a constant level of power, just the peaks.

You need to watch the SSB power on some of the radios, even the dual final versions with get 40 watts or better on SB. The 2510 and older Jacksons will do 60-70 watts on SSB, lots of the little amplifiers will not stand that, Pop goes the Pills. I've see a bunch of 250's blown because of 2510s on SB. |

i dont talk sideband and it swings 60watts on sideband,and for the other guy. with a 1 watt dead key and a 45watt swing i get 60 or 70 watt key and swings past 250. |
