Hey 307!

Have you ever done an A/B test with one of the older all aluminum ground plane antennas against one of the newer generation 'Seal-A-Meal' fiberglass antennas?

I'm curious if my old Antenna Specialist 1/2 wave ground plane was better than this new Antron 99...

BTW: The propagation beacon audio format is changing a bit in the next few days. Do you still want to include info about it in your book? Shoot me your email if you do. Mine is xflsucks@haveatake.net (please delete email addy when posting)

Several years ago I did a comparison using the RF Chamber here at the plant where I work. I did a study on the Alpha V-5/8 compaired to an A-99 along with 83 other antennas that were donated. To make a long story short , the V-5/8 won. I sold 85 comparison charts to C&C in California , you know them..As for the book , send anything you have!

Yump, aluminum and copper wire around it at my station. Tried and proven PDL-ll, still one of the better small quad beams.

Unless the goverment relaxes the rule the 14KV standard for CB antennas will remain and we are stuck with fiberglass. That said on VHF if both antennas are built the same aluminum is less noisey.....

Yankee,

I finaly got my PDL-2 built. I used all stainless hardware and only thing left to do is get it up in the air. do you know or remember if your gamma matches were the same size? my instructions say to be careful of placement of them cause they are diferent. My gammas are the same length. Is this going to be a problem?

Roger

Roger, I had nothing to do with puting my PDL-ll together. We brought it over 20 miles fully intact on the back of a pick up truck on a 6 foot mast setting in a short tripod and well tied down for the trip to my location.
