I'm still trying to spend my moldy money. lol

I'm considering a 148 nightwatch, Ranger 296, or a Galaxy 949.

- The large panel meter and overall cosmetics of the 949 really appeals to me.
- I like Cobra's past history (quality) but don't really care for the extra expense associated with the nightwatch feature of the 148, and the cheaper original 148 doesn't appear to be available anymore.
- The 296 looks like a good all round price-per-feature for what I looking for.
- I don't care about extra channels, talkbacks, tweeks and peaks, big audio...swing (unless she's a big boobed blonde). oops HeHeHe

Q1. The big question is performance...I want top receiver performance and durabailty. Which one delivers this?

Q2. I hear the Galaxy's have problems with freq. stability, especially on SSB, is this true?

Q3. Also, I see a "Modify/Tuneup for 11 Meters" box on the ordering page for the 949...Is the 949 a true type accepted CB (11 meters) out-of-the-box or not?

Q4. Also, I think u guys work at copper...are these radio in stock right now?

Sorry for being longwinded...the sign of a true radio op!

Thanks in advance,
Mr_RF

The 949 is a type accepted radio, is modeled after the original 148 design, shouldn't have the freq drift as much as the export model, and rx to par with any upper end CB radio.
For what you want....sounds like the 949 fits the bill. As popular as they are, I would think it is in stock.
