Does anyone know what to adjust in this radio for deadkey, swing, and Modulation?

BTW if you like the looks the TRC-455 is a completely different radio inside and works ok tuned up. But it is a little odd to work on since everything is mounted on plug in boards like inside an old computer.

I had one of these radios. Believe me you dont want to go through the trouble. I forget what the transistor number for the AMC is but it is oddly enough located on the little PC board that the four push buttons are mounted to in the front.

if you remove it, the radio is so garbled from overmodulation that you cannot be understood even with a stock mic. had to eliminate the first audio stage and convert the PA volume control into a mic audio control.

ALSO the final output is a 2scf8 and is not rated for very much power. If you tune up the radio the final I will guarentee you that it will blow in only a few minutes.

In the transistor substitution books there are Finals listed in the HF amateur transmitter pages with very close to origional break down voltages with a lot better power dissipation ratings but with a bigger case and completely different mounting requirements.
the origional final is mounted above the mainboard with its own heatsink. and the leads are a good 1/4 inch long..

Also, the main bank of 6 crystals are in the 33mhz range. some of the old johnson 23ch mobiles had the right freq crystals in the 33mhz range except for 1 to drop the radio 23 channels below 1 with only needing to custom order the 1 crystal (wire leeds in the johnson vs plugin).

I'm beginning to let my "CB" age slip so I'd better stop telling on myself.........
