307,

I have the regular D104 with the TUG-9 stand. While changing the battery in the desk mic I noticed a small switch inside the base of the microphone that is labeled "R" in one position and "E" in the other position. What is this switch for?

Heterodyne Hill (wow thats a tounge twister). The switch you are commenting about has two positions. 1) "E" stands for ELECTRONIC SWITCHING and is used for the newer type CB radios that do not have a relay in them to switch from Receive to Transmit. Instead they use a transistor. 2) "R" stands for RELAY and in most cases , not all though , it is used on the older CB's that had a relay to switch from Receive to Transmit.
