I just bought an RCI2990 from a guy on eBay, it's already been tuned and peaked out really well, keys from 1-50 on the variable power, and swings pretty good... but does anyone know what the NPC mod for the 2990 is, but the regular, not the DX model. And is there a way to turn the echo down more... I have two knobs to control my echo, on/off and amount knob, and an echo time delay knob.... my problem is, the echo is just BARELY on, in fact as low as it will go possible, but there is way too much (not matter where the echo time is!!!), sounds like an echo max 2000 turned all the way up!!! I can't stand it, I didn't see any adjustments on the echo board itself... any ideas???? On the echo board and the NPC mod?????

Thanks!

Any echo is too much. I am not familiar with the older versions, so I really can't help you out. You may try to find a schematic on the echo board and see if you can change out some of the parts to change the echo levels. Sorry I couldn't help.

the part number on my 2990 is EPT295013Z, it's not that old, it's the last one before the DX version came out! I think I found the NPC mod, I tried to email 307 to see if it was right, no one came back... this is what I found: Lift the right leg of R264 from the board. Then install(solder) a 1N4001 diode, with the banded end towards hole. Then solder the other end to the lifted resistor. I was just trying to confirm it, thats all!

I just tried the mod you mentioned on both a 2970 and a 2990. I could'nt see that it did anything at all so i removed it.

I know what it is now, there is a resistor infront of the high AM Power VR, put the diode inline there! :)

That is what they call the "heavy swinger" mod. Usually works well enough for me. The "npc" would involve changing a cap and volting the final(s) in AM mode.
