Anyone-- I have a comet/tnt modulator with variable power that runs a pair of mrf455's. It works fine at low setting. With 2 watts into it it swings to 40. The problem is that if I turn the variable all the way up it will key 90 but won't swing. Is it not designed to swing from there ? Is there a component within the box that might be out causing it not to swing ? Before you tell me that this brand of modulator is not the best belive me I know. At low setting it sets off my neighbor's house alarm so I know it's a little harmonic generator. Any ideas ? Thanks |

IF YOUR SITTING STILL IN YOUR NEW DODGE VIPER ( I KNOW ITS JUNK ITS ALL I COULD THINK OF J/K) IT WOULD BE EASY TO BURN OUT RIGHT?
OK NO LETS SAY YOUS GOING ABOUT AS FAST AS THE CAR WILL GO YOU CAN PEEL OUT ANYMORE CAUSE THE MOTOR ISNT THAT BIG.

Try lowering your drive wattage from 2 down to 1 Watt or less. Make sure the radio has good foreward swing as well. |

Stray, the TnT super mods were notorious for matching and swr problems. What inspector said is correct and will help, but if you want a 2 transistor modulator that works well, look at a XForce X80 or something similar.
The TnTSM's were not intended for the variable to be run wide open, sadly when you don't it has terrible input SWR! Go figure. |

OK Inspector I'll keep the drive low. Thanks. I used to have an older TNT that had the same pills I and it would swing to 175. Thanks again |

I am using a Galaxy 33 that keys 2 and swings to 20. The modulator has a pair of MRF455's. The dead key I get is normal for two 455's, but, I have other amps that dead key their pill value and swing from there. |
