If a person was to wrap the Antron 99 with black tape to prevent the fiberglass from further chaffing off, would this hurt the output or swr's of the antenna, or should this not be done? Just curiouse cause my cousin has one that is done that way and he said that his swr's are 1.4 to 1.6 throughout the band, and says that he gets out just fine, would like to know. thanx

Thats great I doubt that I will ever be able to run that much power becuase i don't have that kind of money at the time but its just nice to know that right now 4 watts wont hurt it none lol thanx for the input guys have a good one, I wraped mine with the tape then clear coated over that so it should last a long time that way thanx again,

it took about 2 rolls of high grade electrician, electrical tape, I made sure it was wrapped very good then I clear coated it, whats nice is it gave the antenna a new look shiny and black.. very very slick Fiberglass sure it He// on the hands though but now I don't have to worry about it..... it works great swr's are about 1.2 to 1.4 throughout the band.. reg 40 channels.....

I painted an Antron 99 that was flaking badly with blue marine paint. That was 6 years ago and the antenna is still in use at my friend's house.
