The problem I am having with this amp is when it is hooked up the power light comes on and the preamp light will come on when turned on but when you key down the relay won't switch on and when the preamp is turned on it actually cuts down the recieve, it is using two mrf455 transistors and none of the components inside seem to be burned or anything, I know that doesn't always mean anything but is sure is better than looking inside and seeing a bunch of black powder lol, anyway any input would be greatly appreciated, I am trying to get this working for a friend of mine, thanx in advace and 73's

Try switching the coax cables in the rear of the amp (unscrew them and switch sides).

Barakuda,
I had the same problem a couple years back. I dont know if your problem will be the same, but I fixed the problem with putting a different jumper in place. It turned out that the contacts inside the connector on the amp were spead apart too far to make a good connection. I was using a small diameter center conductor jumper. When I put a bigger conductor inline, it solved everything. Check that posibility with all your conections. I hope your problem is as simple as mine was...Eddie

Can I get the 2n4401 at radio shack or will I have to order it from a parts warehouse? As for the coax jumper, I am useing rg8 big coax I already checked the connections of the coax jumpers and they are all fine,,,, used a multimeter, so unfortuneatly my problem aint that simple, warlock do you mean to switch them even if they were in the right place the first time or are you suggesting that I had them in the wrong place? I double checked all my connections when trying to see if this amp worked but when you key down it doesn't do anything, although the cb radio's power will bypass through and let you get out the same as if you didn't have the amp inline, but no amplification, Are you suggesting that maybe someone who might have redone the amp or something could have labled the connections wrong? that sure would be an easy way to solve this problem but I don't think I can be so lucky....lol, anyway thanx for all your input and hopefully I can get this amp up and running,
